How should I clean this before first use?
Stainless steel cookware is treated with a light abrasive during manufacturing, so give it a wash before first use: (1) gather dish soap, vinegar, a soft sponge, and warm water; (2) mix the dish soap and vinegar into warm water -- don't bring it to a boil; (3) gently scrub every piece with the soft sponge, then rinse thoroughly; (4) dry completely before storing. Even stainless steel can develop rust if left wet for long periods, so always dry it fully after washing.
