Neo Nest 80 Natural Rainfly

Fabric, windows and how it holds on

Close-up of the tan polyester Oxford rainfly fabric with a taped seam, corner patch and printed Mount River logo.

150D Oxford shell rated 5,000 mm

150D polyester Oxford with a PU coating rated at 5,000 mm hydrostatic head covers the Neo Nest 80 Natural cot tent in sudden rain.

Daylight through the rainfly roof window onto the mesh ceiling and loft of the Neo Nest 80 (tent and pad sold separately).

Two clear TPU roof windows

Two clear TPU panels sit on the roof. They let daylight through and mark where the rainfly lines up over the cot tent during setup.

Hooded vent on the ridge of the Natural rainfly, propped open for airflow.

Hooded rear vent

A hooded opening on the rear ridge lets air move under the rainfly. Ventilating and opening doors or windows helps reduce condensation.

Guy line with tension hook coiled at a reinforced corner of the Natural rainfly.

Guy lines and anti-slip straps fitted

Guy lines with tension stoppers come attached at the reinforced anchor points. Inside, anti-slip Velcro straps wrap the inner tent frame to hold the rainfly in place.

This rainfly attaches to the cot tent, not to the cot. It is made for the Mount River Neo Nest 80 Natural cot tent and for cot tents with the same frame structure and attachment method. Tents and cots from other makers may not fit even at identical dimensions, depending on frame structure. The tent comes with its own roof cover; this rainfly is the full rain layer, covering the whole tent and adding a vestibule. The tent, the Wide Cot 80 cot and the door poles shown in staged photos are sold separately.

Questions about this rainfly

Will this fit the Air version of the tent?

No. This rainfly is cut for the Mount River Neo Nest 80 Natural cot tent only, and the Air version uses its own rainfly. Tents from other makers may not fit even at identical dimensions, depending on frame structure and attachment method.

How much rain will it hold off?

The 150D polyester Oxford shell is PU coated and rated at 5,000 mm hydrostatic head. Stake out all 8 aluminum pegs and tension every guy line before you leave it. Prolonged heavy rain, storms or wind-driven rain can still cause leaks or water ingress, so take the tent down if severe weather is expected.

There is water on the inside of the fly — is it leaking?

That is usually condensation, and it forms under any rainfly depending on temperature and humidity. It is not a defect. Ventilate often and open the tent doors or windows to reduce it.

What comes in the box, and do I need anything else?

You get the rainfly, 8 aluminum pegs and a peg pouch. Guy lines with tension stoppers and the inner anti-slip Velcro straps that wrap the inner tent frame are already fitted. The Neo Nest 80 Natural cot tent, the Wide Cot 80 cot and the Rainfly Door Pole Set are sold separately — you need the door poles to prop the door panel up as a canopy.

From the crew

BIGTENT ·Coquitlam, BC

The Natural tent's poly-cotton body has no water-repellent finish, so I treat this rainfly as part of the tent rather than an accessory — if rain is possible, it comes along. It pitches over the whole tent as a dome, which buys you a sheltered strip for boots and gear, and the two TPU roof windows keep the view you bought the tent for. A hooded vent on the ridge keeps air moving between fly and tent. Add the door pole set (sold separately) if you want the entrance propped open as a canopy.
