Wood and Burn's FAQ
Find most common questions about FIELD STOVE and Wood and Burn stoves.
Are there any handling precautions?
The stainless steel plates are laser-cut and folded, resulting in sharp, 90-degree cut edge. Please wear protective gloves when handling the product.
Are there any additional precautions for use?
As this product involves fire, always exercise caution with heat. Wear heat-resistant gloves to prevent burns and be mindful of potential fire hazards from flames or embers.
Why does smoke escape when I open the door to add firewood?
The stove features a larger door for an expanded view and versatile use. However, this may cause smoke backflow when opening the door. A taller chimney can help minimize this effect with its automatic draft system. If the chimney is too short or the environment is windy, some smoke may excape. Using a taller vertical chimney will help reduce this issue.
Do I need to season the stove before first use?
Ceramic-coated stoves: Do not require seasoning, unlike heat-resistant painted stoves.
Stainless Steel Stoves: Seasoning is required before the first use to ensure optimal performance. Follow these steps:
1. Operate the stove for approximately 1 hour during its initial use. You may notice white smoke, which is normal as it results from the evaporation of polishing agents and volatile materials in the ceramic rope.
2. Avoid inhaling the smoke and ensure proper ventilation during this process.
3. Allow the stove to cool completely, then resume normal use.
Is there a risk of carbon monoxide poisoning?
All combustion stoves (kerosene, gas, charcoal, and wood stoves) produce carbon monoxide(CO). However, wood stoves vent exhaust gases outdoors through the chimney. If the chimney is properly installed and the stove's doors remain closed, the risk of indoor CO exposure is very low. For prolonged use, we recommend using a carbon monoxide detector as a precaution.
What should I consider before using FIELD STOVE inside a tent?
Before setting up FIELD STOVE or any wood stove inside a tent, ensure that you fully understand the product's operation. Carefully plan and simulate the setup for your specific tent, and prepare additional chimney pipes and installation accessories if needed.
What essential safety equipment do I need for using a wood stove?
Always ensure that safety equipment is readily available when using a wood stove.
- Heat-resistant gloves
- Fire suppression watter
- Fire extinguisher
- Carbon monoxide detector
What are the precautions when using a wood stove?
This wood stove is primarily designed for outdoor use. If using indoors, follow all installation guidelines, use recommended chimney pipes, and have proper safety equipment in place. Users are responsible for safe operation.
What should I know before purchasing?
- Metal surface imperfections - Scratches, fingerprints, and welding markes may be present due to the metal fabrication process.
- Sharp edges - Cut edges of metal panels can be sharp, so always wear gloves when handling.
- Pinch hazards - Folding parts may cause finger pinching, so handle with care.
- Fire safety - Keep flammable materials away from the stove body, as it gets very hot.
- Protective base recommended - Use a fireproof mat under the stove to prevent embers from damaging the ground.
- Transport caution - Tilting the stove during transport may cause parts to fall out and lead to injury.
- Hot surface warning - The stove's surface becomes extremely hot during use, so avoide direct contact.
- Overheating risks - Excessive heat may cause deformation of the product.
- Consumable parts - Heat-resistant glass and combustion rods may wear out over time and require replacement.
- Coating durability - The ceramic coating is not permanent and may fade or wear off with extended use.
- First-use ventilation - When using the stove for the first time, coating may release fumes as it cures. Ensure proper ventilation.
