HYBRID AIR SHELTER
280 × 280 × 210 cm / 9.2 × 9.2 × 6.9 ft · approximately 16 kg / 35.3 lb · 4-5 person family configuration
Most air shelters wobble in wind because the air frame alone holds the structure. The Cubex 2.8 adds four aluminum X-Pole reinforcements at the sides — the air frame inflates the canopy, the X-Poles hold the geometry steady when gusts hit. Vendor calls this the Air-Connected System.
The floor is 280 × 280 cm / 9.2 × 9.2 ft at 210 cm / 6.9 ft peak height, sized for four to five people with chairs, a table, and gear room. Body fabric is 75D polyester ripstop at 2,000 mm hydrostatic head with W/R and UV treatments. Aluminum poles are 14.5 mm — corrosion-resistant, no warping across repeated setups.
Air frame inflates from a built-in rechargeable auto-pump battery. Press the power switch once to turn on, press again to inflate. No AC needed at the campsite. A manual hand pump packs alongside for the night the battery is flat.
The basic kit is body-only configuration. Three accessory upgrades — TPU Window for clear-view sides, Groundsheet for terrain protection, Inner Liner for added insulation — sell separately. BigTent imports directly with a 1-year manufacturer warranty.
WHY THIS SHELTER
Four aluminum X-Poles at 14.5 mm diameter reinforce the sides — keeps the shelter rigid in wind where pure air shelters tend to sway.
Press the power switch once to turn on, press again to inflate all four air beams. Rechargeable battery — no AC connection needed at the campsite.
The air frame ties directly to the X-Pole structure at the roof — wind load distributes across both systems for stability neither could provide alone.
Air screen panels on every side cross-ventilate the interior. The front upper window doubles as a daylight panel and a ventilation port — one feature, two jobs.
Storm Guard reinforcement loops attach at each corner X-pole intersection — extra tie-down points for severe weather where stakes alone do not hold.
WHAT IT REPLACES
STRUCTURE
Pure air shelters sway in gusts — the air frame alone holds the geometry. Four aluminum X-Poles at 14.5 mm reinforce the sides, anchoring the shape where wind pressure matters most.
SETUP
Press the power switch once to turn on, press again to inflate all four air beams sequentially. Rechargeable battery means no AC connection at the campsite — bring it pre-charged from home.
MODULAR
The basic kit is body-only configuration. Three accessories — TPU Window, Groundsheet, Inner Liner — sell separately. Build the setup as you need it.

Compatibility
All three accessories fit only the Cubex 2.8 Air Shelter base. Not cross-compatible with other Monterra shelter sizes.
Advanced details
Monterra warrants the shelter against material and workmanship defects for 1 year from purchase. Coverage includes body fabric, TPU air-frame tubes, aluminum X-Poles, auto-pump battery, and manual hand pump. Excludes wear from normal use, storage damage, and abuse.
After connecting the X-Poles into the pole sleeves, pull the attached tension webbing fully tight to secure. Improper webbing tension can cause the X-Pole structure to flex more than intended in wind. The Storm Guard system uses the X-Pole corners as anchor points — verify connection before severe weather.
Rechargeable lithium-ion auto-pump battery with battery-level LED indicator and removable handle. Press the power switch once to turn on, press again to inflate. Vendor PDP does not specify charger type or charging time — request specs from BigTent if needed before purchase. Store charged when not in use.

Things to know before buying
This shelter IS
A 4-5 person hybrid air-frame shelter combining a TPU air frame with four aluminum X-Pole reinforcements. 280 × 280 × 210 cm footprint. Body 75D polyester ripstop at 2,000 mm waterproof. Rechargeable auto-pump battery and manual hand pump both included. Aluminum V pegs included.
This shelter is NOT
**TPU Window, Groundsheet, and Inner Liner are NOT included** — sold separately as F2M / F3M / F9M accessories. Not a backpacking shelter — approximately 16-20 kg / 35.3-44.1 lb total is vehicle-camping weight. Body 2,000 mm waterproof — handles normal rain, not extended storms.
Setup learning curve
First-time setup typically 25-35 minutes while learning the air-beam ports, X-Pole tension webbing routine, and Storm Guard corner attachments. Second pitch onward, 15-20 minutes solo with the auto-pump running.
Accessory compatibility
Three Monterra accessories fit this shelter: F2M TPU Window, F3M Groundsheet, F9M Inner Liner — all listed separately at BigTent. Not cross-compatible with other Monterra shelter sizes. Bring your own 5 V USB power source to charge the auto-pump battery.
Weight & sound
Vendor states approximately 16 kg / 35.3 lb for the kit. BigTent receives weight at approximately 19.8 kg / 43.7 lb with full packaging — expect 16-20 kg / 35.3-44.1 lb total range. Auto-pump runs about 3-5 minutes during inflation. The air frame is silent in wind once pitched.
Warranty & returns
1-year manufacturer warranty against material and workmanship defects — covers body, TPU air-frame tubes, aluminum X-Poles, auto-pump battery, and hand pump. 30-day BigTent returns in original condition. Korean distributor (주) 카라신 handles in-region service.

FREQUENTLY ASKED
The air-frame inflates the canopy while four aluminum X-Poles on the sides reinforce the geometry. Pure air shelters sway in wind because the air frame alone holds shape. The X-Pole reinforcement anchors the structure where lateral wind pressure matters most.
The air frame and X-Pole structure connect at the roof — wind load distributes across both systems for tension and stability that neither structure provides alone. Vendor positions this as the shelter's signature design.
Press the power switch once for battery readout, press again to inflate. The pump inflates all four air beams sequentially through dedicated insertion ports. Rechargeable battery — bring it charged from home, no AC needed at the campsite.
Vendor does not specify charger type in the PDP — request charger specs from BigTent if needed. The battery is rechargeable lithium-ion. Bring the battery charged from home for the campsite session.
Unlike a pure air shelter, the four aluminum X-Poles continue to hold the structure even if the air frame deflates. Top up with the auto-pump or the included manual hand pump, or continue on the X-Pole structure alone if needed.
Yes — aluminum V pegs are included in the basic kit. The included set is typically sufficient for the standard configuration. For sand, snow, or very hard ground, buy specialty stakes separately.
Three Monterra-made accessories — all sold separately, all listed at BigTent: TPU Window (clear-view side panel), Groundsheet (matches floor footprint), Inner Liner (inner roof liner for insulation).
The Storm Guard system attaches reinforcement loops at each corner X-pole intersection for severe weather — extra tie-down points beyond standard staking. For sustained storms, look at dedicated 4-season shelters; for normal weather including moderate rain, the Cubex 2.8 is designed to handle it.
BigTent imports directly and covers a 1-year manufacturer warranty for material and workmanship defects, including the battery and auto-pump.
FROM THE CURATOR
"The X-Pole reinforcement is the part that earns the price. We have seen too many pure air-frame shelters get embarrassed in shoulder-season winds — the body inflates fine, but the sides sway visibly under gusts, and buyers lose confidence. Four aluminum X-Poles at 14.5 mm hold the geometry steady, then the air frame inflates inside that. The auto-pump battery design is the second piece — no electrical connection at the campsite, no separate compressor to lug around. The modular accessory line is a thoughtful philosophy: ship the body at a reachable price, let buyers add the TPU window, groundsheet, and liner as their setup evolves. Monterra is a quieter brand than some of the bigger Korean outdoor names, but the build quality here punches above the price tier."
