Four reasons this earns the upgrade.
3,000 mm waterproof.
The panel is rated to 3,000 mm hydrostatic head — higher than the Cubex 2.8 base body's 2,000 mm. TPU is inherently more waterproof than fabric.
Flame-retardant treatment.
The panel base fabric carries F/R (flame retardant) treatment. The Cubex 2.8 base body is not F/R-rated — this panel adds the safety property the body lacks.
One panel, or up to four.
One panel per side. Two F2M units convert two side walls; four units enclose the full perimeter in clear-view TPU configuration. Buy the quantity that matches your setup.

3,000 mm beats the base 2,000 mm.
The Cubex 2.8 base body is 75D ripstop at 2,000 mm hydrostatic head. This TPU window is 3,000 mm — 50% higher waterproof rating where the panel sits, since TPU resists water inherently better than fabric.
SAFETY
F/R treatment adds what the body lacks.
The TPU base fabric is F/R (flame retardant) treated. If you cook adjacent or set up near stove areas, this panel is the side wall to face that direction.

Warranty
Monterra warrants the panel against material and workmanship defects for 1 year from purchase. Covers TPU clarity, fabric seam integrity, and coating performance. Excludes wear from sharp folding, abrasion, or solvent contact.

TPU care
Store flat or rolled — never folded sharply. Sharp folds create stress lines in TPU that crack over time. Clean with damp cloth and mild soap; rinse with clean water. Avoid solvents (acetone, alcohol, paint thinner) — these damage TPU clarity. Air dry fully before storage.

The F2M panel base fabric carries F/R (flame retardant) treatment. The Cubex 2.8 base body (F1M) is NOT flame-retardant — vendor's standard tent disclaimer warns against open flame inside or adjacent. The F2M adds the F/R property to the side panel it occupies; use it as the side facing your stove or cooking area for added safety.

Do I need one or more?
One panel covers one side. The Cubex 2.8 has four side walls, so two panels convert two sides, four panels enclose the full perimeter in clear-view configuration. Buy the quantity that matches your intended layout.
Is it more waterproof than the base shelter?
Yes — the panel is rated to 3,000 mm hydrostatic head versus the Cubex 2.8 base body's 2,000 mm. TPU is inherently more waterproof than the ripstop fabric used in the base body.
Is it flame-retardant?
F/R (flame retardant) treatment is applied to the panel base fabric. The Cubex 2.8 base body is NOT flame-retardant per vendor's standard tent fire-safety disclaimer. The F2M panel adds that property where it sits.
Why is it smoke-tinted instead of clear?
Smoke tint filters direct sun without blocking the view — less interior glare during midday, less heat buildup, more balanced ambient light. The view stays visible; the glare drops.
How do I care for the TPU?
Store flat or rolled — sharp folds can crack TPU over time. Wipe with a damp cloth and mild soap if needed. Avoid solvents (they damage clarity). Air dry fully before storage to prevent mold buildup at the TPU-fabric seams.

Why we carry it.
"The F/R treatment is the part most buyers will skip past, but it is the most useful detail on the spec sheet. The Cubex 2.8 base body is explicitly not flame-retardant — vendor's own fire-safety disclaimer says so. If you camp with a stove, a heater, or any kind of open flame nearby, the F2M is the panel that should face the cook area. The 3,000 mm waterproof rating is the bonus on top. Smoke tint is a small design choice that lands well in real use — clear TPU often looks plastic-y and gets dazzlingly bright at midday, and the smoke filter solves both. Single-parent compatibility means this only fits the Cubex 2.8, so the SKU lives or dies with that base shelter."
